A forged cap closes the open end of a small-bore pipe. Raaj Fittings manufactures and exports forged caps to ASME B16.11 — socket weld caps that fit over the pipe and are fillet-welded, and threaded caps that screw onto a male-threaded pipe end — from ⅛" to 4" NPS, in stainless steel, duplex, nickel alloys, carbon steel and alloy steel.
Caps are used to terminate dead legs, close spare connections, finish vents and drains, and seal lines for pressure testing. The forged body has a solid end wall rated to the same pressure class as other ASME B16.11 fittings, so the closure is as strong as the pipe it closes.
All caps are supplied with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates, with 3.2 certification and third-party inspection on request.
We export forged caps to EPC contractors, plant operators and stockists across the Middle East and GCC, Europe and the Americas — with NPT threads for US and Gulf projects or BSP threads where European and Middle Eastern specifications call for them.

(UNS N08020) Engineered for sulfuric acid and aggressive chemical process service
Exceptional corrosion resistance in seawater and oxidising media at low density
Carbon steel is the standard material for forged fittings in general-purpose, hydrocarbon, steam, and elevated-temperature service. The primary grade for forged carbon steel fittings is ASTM A105.
Primary grade for forged carbon steel fittings and flanges — covers ambient and elevated-temperature service in pressurised piping systems.
Low-temperature carbon steel, impact-tested for service down to -46°C (-50°F) — LNG, cold climate, and cryogenic piping applications.
Low-temperature carbon steel, impact-tested to -101°C (-150°F) — for the most demanding cold-temperature service applications.
Chromium-molybdenum alloy steel grades for high-temperature, high-pressure service in power generation, petrochemical, and refinery applications. All grades supplied to ASTM A182 specification.
(5% Cr · ½% Mo) Refinery hydroprocessing and high-temperature service
(9% Cr · 1% Mo) High-temperature steam and hydrogen-rich process service
(1¼% Cr · ½% Mo) Thermal power plant steam, feedwater, and reheat piping
(2¼% Cr · 1% Mo) Reactors and high-temperature pressure piping in petrochemical plants
(9% Cr · 1% Mo · V · Nb) Ultra-supercritical power plant main steam and hot reheat piping
A socket weld cap slides over the end of the pipe, which is withdrawn about 1.6 mm (1/16") from the bottom of the socket, and is sealed with a fillet weld. It gives a permanent, leak-tight closure for hydrocarbon and high-pressure service. A threaded cap screws onto a pipe with a male thread; it can be removed, which makes it useful for test points and temporary closures.
A cap closes a pipe end — it has a female socket or thread and fits over the pipe. A forged plug closes a fitting or valve outlet — it has a male thread and screws into a female opening. Choose the one that matches the end you need to close. A half coupling left as a spare connection can be closed with a plug.
Choose the cap class to suit the pipe: socket weld 3000 with SCH 80, 6000 with SCH 160, 9000 with XXS; threaded 2000 with SCH 80, 3000 with SCH 160, 6000 with XXS. For larger lines, a buttweld pipe cap to ASME B16.9 is used.
When ordering, give the size, class, end type, thread form for threaded caps and the material grade — for example ¾" Class 3000 socket weld cap, ASTM A105N. Caps are often supplied together with matching nipples and valves so that vents and drains can be completed in one shipment.

Raaj Sagar Steels has supplied piping components since 2003 and today manufactures forged fittings at two plants in India for buyers in the Middle East, Europe and the Americas.
A forged cap is an ASME B16.11 fitting that closes the end of a small-bore pipe, either by fitting over it and being fillet-welded (socket weld) or by screwing onto it (threaded).
A cap fits over a pipe end and has a female socket or thread. A plug has a male thread and screws into a female opening on a fitting or valve.
Socket weld caps in Class 3000, 6000 and 9000; threaded caps in Class 2000, 3000 and 6000.
Yes. Threaded caps can be unscrewed, which makes them useful for test points and temporary closures. Socket weld caps are permanent.
Forged caps are made from ⅛" to 4" NPS. For larger pipe, buttweld caps to ASME B16.9 are used.
Yes. We supply forged caps for projects under the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED 2014/68/EU), and with IBR certification for Indian boiler applications. NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 compliant material is also available on request for sour service in the Middle East and the Americas.
Other forged fittings we manufacture and export in the same materials and standards.
