A forged 45° elbow changes the direction of a small-bore pipeline by 45° using a compact, solid forged body. Raaj Fittings manufactures and exports forged 45° elbows with socket weld and threaded ends to ASME B16.11, from ¼" to 4" NPS, in stainless steel, duplex and super duplex, nickel alloys, carbon steel and alloy steel.
The 45° turn gives a gentler change of direction than a 90° elbow, with lower pressure drop and less turbulence. Forged 45° elbows are used to offset small-bore lines around obstructions, to slope drains and vents, and with 90° elbows to route instrument, hydraulic and utility piping in tight spaces.
Socket weld and threaded elbows are supplied with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates, with 3.2 certification and third-party inspection on request.
We export forged 45° elbows to EPC contractors, plant operators and stockists across the Middle East and GCC, Europe and the Americas — with NPT threads for US and Gulf projects or BSP threads where European and Middle Eastern specifications call for them.

Carbon steel is the standard material for forged fittings in general-purpose, hydrocarbon, steam, and elevated-temperature service. The primary grade for forged carbon steel fittings is ASTM A105.
Primary grade for forged carbon steel fittings and flanges — covers ambient and elevated-temperature service in pressurised piping systems.
Low-temperature carbon steel, impact-tested for service down to -46°C (-50°F) — LNG, cold climate, and cryogenic piping applications.
Low-temperature carbon steel, impact-tested to -101°C (-150°F) — for the most demanding cold-temperature service applications.
Chromium-molybdenum alloy steel grades for high-temperature, high-pressure service in power generation, petrochemical, and refinery applications. All grades supplied to ASTM A182 specification.
(5% Cr · ½% Mo) Refinery hydroprocessing and high-temperature service
(9% Cr · 1% Mo) High-temperature steam and hydrogen-rich process service
(1¼% Cr · ½% Mo) Thermal power plant steam, feedwater, and reheat piping
(2¼% Cr · 1% Mo) Reactors and high-temperature pressure piping in petrochemical plants
(9% Cr · 1% Mo · V · Nb) Ultra-supercritical power plant main steam and hot reheat piping
Small-bore piping is often routed through crowded spaces around equipment, structure and other lines. A 45° elbow lets a line step around an obstacle with less flow resistance than a pair of 90° turns, and two 45° elbows make a neat offset. The forged body is solid and heavy-walled, so it carries the same pressure rating as other ASME B16.11 fittings of the same class.
Socket weld 45° elbows are fillet-welded to the pipe, giving a strong, leak-tight joint for Class 3000 and above and for hydrocarbon and hazardous service. The pipe is withdrawn about 1.6 mm (1/16") from the socket bottom before welding to allow for expansion. Threaded elbows screw on with NPT or BSP threads and are used where welding is not wanted, such as utility air and water lines. A 45° street elbow, with one male and one female end, can save a nipple in threaded assemblies.
Select the class to match the pipe: socket weld Class 3000 with SCH 80 / XS pipe, Class 6000 with SCH 160 and Class 9000 with XXS; threaded Class 2000 with SCH 80, Class 3000 with SCH 160 and Class 6000 with XXS. This correlation is set out in ASME B16.11 and ensures the fitting is at least as strong as the pipe.
Small-bore systems are routinely built from forged elbows, tees and couplings of the same class and grade, so one order can cover a complete instrument or utility package. See the complete range of forged fittings.

A forged 45° elbow is a small-bore fitting made to ASME B16.11 that changes pipe direction by 45°. It has socket weld or threaded ends and a solid forged body.
Forged 45° elbows are made from ¼" to 4" NPS. Socket weld elbows come in Class 3000, 6000 and 9000; threaded elbows in Class 2000, 3000 and 6000.
A 45° elbow gives a gentler change of direction with lower pressure drop, and two 45° elbows make a compact offset around obstructions.
Match it to the pipe schedule: socket weld 3000 with SCH 80, 6000 with SCH 160, 9000 with XXS; threaded 2000 with SCH 80, 3000 with SCH 160, 6000 with XXS.
