A swage nipple is a short, tapered fitting that joins a larger pipe to a smaller one, made by swaging (forging down) one end of a length of pipe or bar. Raaj Fittings manufactures and exports concentric and eccentric swage nipples to MSS SP-95, with plain, bevelled or threaded ends in any combination, in stainless steel, duplex, nickel alloys, carbon steel and alloy steel.
Swage nipples are the usual way to reduce size in small-bore piping, at vents, drains and instrument connections, and between a socket weld or threaded small-bore line and a larger buttweld line. One fitting does the job of a reducer and a nipple, with the ends prepared to suit both connections.
All swage nipples are supplied with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates, with 3.2 certification and third-party inspection on request.
We export swage nipples to EPC contractors, plant operators and stockists across the Middle East and GCC, Europe and the Americas — with NPT threads for US and Gulf projects or BSP threads where European and Middle Eastern specifications call for them.
Large ends from ¼" NPS to 8" NPS, reducing to any smaller standard size (larger to order)
Concentric and eccentric
SCH 40, SCH 80, SCH 160 and XXS; each end to its own schedule
Plain (PE), bevelled (BE) or threaded (TE) on each end, e.g. BLE × TSE

(UNS N08020) Engineered for sulfuric acid and aggressive chemical process service
Exceptional corrosion resistance in seawater and oxidising media at low density
Carbon steel is the standard material for forged fittings in general-purpose, hydrocarbon, steam, and elevated-temperature service. The primary grade for forged carbon steel fittings is ASTM A105.
Primary grade for forged carbon steel fittings and flanges — covers ambient and elevated-temperature service in pressurised piping systems.
Low-temperature carbon steel, impact-tested for service down to -46°C (-50°F) — LNG, cold climate, and cryogenic piping applications.
Low-temperature carbon steel, impact-tested to -101°C (-150°F) — for the most demanding cold-temperature service applications.
Chromium-molybdenum alloy steel grades for high-temperature, high-pressure service in power generation, petrochemical, and refinery applications. All grades supplied to ASTM A182 specification.
(5% Cr · ½% Mo) Refinery hydroprocessing and high-temperature service
(9% Cr · 1% Mo) High-temperature steam and hydrogen-rich process service
(1¼% Cr · ½% Mo) Thermal power plant steam, feedwater, and reheat piping
(2¼% Cr · 1% Mo) Reactors and high-temperature pressure piping in petrochemical plants
(9% Cr · 1% Mo · V · Nb) Ultra-supercritical power plant main steam and hot reheat piping
A concentric swage keeps both ends on the same centreline and is used in vertical lines and where alignment matters. An eccentric swage has one side straight, so the centrelines are offset; like an eccentric reducer, it is used in horizontal lines to avoid trapping air or liquid, and for drains that must empty completely.
Swage nipples are described by the size and end preparation of each end — for example 2" × 1" BLE × TSE means bevel large end, thread small end. Common abbreviations are:
A bushing reduces a threaded opening in very little space, but adds a threaded joint and is limited in the reduction it can make. A swage nipple handles larger reductions, can be welded at one or both ends, and gives a smoother transition. For a same-size connection between fittings, a standard pipe nipple is used. At a branch, a forged reducing tee may avoid the swage altogether.
When ordering, give the large and small sizes, the type (concentric or eccentric), each end preparation and schedule, the overall length if non-standard, and the material grade.

Swage nipples are produced under our quality assurance process:
Supplied with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates; EN 10204 3.2 certificates and third-party inspection are available on request.
Fittings are packed for export with plastic caps protecting threads and sockets, rust-preventive or VCI wrapping on carbon and alloy steel, and seaworthy wooden cases; marking, tagging and packing to your specification are available on request.
Raaj Sagar Steels has supplied piping components since 2003 and today manufactures forged fittings at two plants in India for buyers in the Middle East, Europe and the Americas.
A swage nipple is a short tapered fitting that joins a larger pipe to a smaller one. It is made by swaging one end of a pipe or bar down to the smaller size.
A concentric swage keeps both ends on one centreline. An eccentric swage has one straight side, so the ends are offset; it is used in horizontal lines and drains.
It means bevelled large end and threaded small end. Other common ends are PBE (plain both ends), BBE (bevelled both ends) and TBE (threaded both ends).
MSS SP-95 covers swage nipples and bull plugs, including dimensions, tolerances and marking.
Yes. Each end is made to the schedule of the pipe it connects to — for example SCH 80 large end and SCH 160 small end.
Yes. We supply swage nipples for projects under the European Pressure Equipment Directive (PED 2014/68/EU), and with IBR certification for Indian boiler applications. NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 compliant material is also available on request for sour service in the Middle East and the Americas.
Other forged fittings we manufacture and export in the same materials and standards.
