ASTM A182 F51 Duplex 2205 Socket Weld & Threaded Fittings

Duplex F51 Forged Fittings Manufacturer & Exporter in India

Duplex 2205 forged fittings are socket weld and threaded fittings forged from ASTM A182 F51 (UNS S31803) or F60 (UNS S32205) and machined to ASME B16.11. They complete duplex piping systems in the small bores where instrument connections, drains, vents and chemical injection lines branch off, so the whole line has the same strength and chloride resistance as the duplex run pipe.

Raaj Fittings forges duplex F51 elbows, tees, crosses, couplings, caps, plugs, bushings and nipples in-house at our two plants in India, from ⅛" to 4" and in Class 2000 to 9000, with the heat treatment and testing duplex steel needs, for offshore and process projects in the Middle East, Europe and the Americas.

Small-Bore Duplex: Points to Watch

  • Heat input: socket welds on duplex fittings must be made with a qualified procedure and controlled heat input to keep the weld and heat-affected zone balanced; 2209 filler is normally used.
  • Crevices: the gap at the bottom of a socket weld is a crevice. 2205 resists crevice corrosion far better than 316L, but in warm seawater many specifications prefer buttweld fittings or super duplex F53.
  • Threads: threaded duplex joints are usually limited to instrument and non-hazardous connections; a suitable thread sealant prevents galling.
  • Testing: ferrite measurement, impact testing and ASTM A923 can be specified on the order, as for larger duplex components.

Duplex F51 Forged Fittings We Manufacture

Applications

  • Offshore instrument take-offs, drains, vents and chemical injection
  • Seawater and firewater small-bore branches
  • Desalination plant instrument and sampling connections
  • Sour gas and produced-water service (NACE MR0175 / ISO 15156 on request)

Testing and Documentation

Every heat is PMI-verified and its chemistry and mechanical properties are confirmed against the material specification before the fittings are released. Each piece is marked with grade, size, rating and heat number for traceability to its EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate. EN 10204 3.2 certification and inspection by the buyer's nominated third-party agency are available on request, as are PED 2014/68/EU compliance for European projects and IBR certification for Indian boiler applications.

Frequently Asked Questions

Duplex 2205 (F51) Forged Fittings — FAQs

Duplex F51 has more than twice the yield strength of 316L and much better resistance to chloride pitting and stress corrosion cracking. In a duplex piping system, duplex small-bore fittings keep the same corrosion resistance and strength throughout.

A 2209 duplex filler is normally used, with a qualified welding procedure that controls heat input and interpass temperature to keep the ferrite-austenite balance.

Yes. Besides F51 and F60 duplex 2205, we make super duplex 2507 (F53) and Zeron 100 (F55) forged fittings for more aggressive seawater service.

Ferrite measurement, Charpy impact testing, ASTM A923 tests for intermetallic phases and hardness testing can be added, together with third-party inspection and EN 10204 3.2 certificates.
