What Is Super Duplex 2507?

Super duplex 2507 (UNS S32750) contains about 25% chromium, 7% nickel, 4% molybdenum and 0.3% nitrogen, giving a pitting resistance equivalent number (PREN) of at least 40. It handles warm seawater and high-chloride brines that are beyond duplex 2205, with a minimum yield strength above 550 MPa.

  • PREN of 40 or more: resists pitting and crevice corrosion in seawater.
  • Very high strength, allowing thinner walls and lighter piping.
  • Excellent resistance to chloride stress corrosion cracking.

Super Duplex 2507 Flanges: What to Know

Super duplex flanges must be forged and heat treated within narrow temperature limits and water quenched to keep a balanced ferrite-austenite structure free of sigma phase. Ferrite measurement, impact tests at low temperature and ASTM A923 / G48 tests are normally written into the order.

  • Normally used between about −50 °C and 250 °C; intermetallic phases form if it is overheated during forging, heat treatment or welding.
  • Ferrite measurement, impact testing and ASTM A923 / G48 tests are commonly specified to confirm a sound microstructure.

Applications

  • Offshore seawater, firewater and produced-water systems
  • Desalination plants (high-pressure RO and brine)
  • Subsea manifolds and umbilical connections
  • Chemical plants handling chlorides
  • Pulp and paper bleach plants

Testing and Documentation

Every heat is PMI-verified and its chemistry and mechanical properties are confirmed against the material specification before the flanges are released. Each piece is marked with grade, size, rating and heat number for traceability to its EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificate. EN 10204 3.2 certification and inspection by the buyer's nominated third-party agency are available on request, as are PED 2014/68/EU compliance for European projects and IBR certification for Indian boiler applications.

Ferrite, impact and ASTM A923 / G48 results are reported when they are specified.

Frequently Asked Questions

Super Duplex 2507 Flanges — FAQs

2507 has more chromium, molybdenum and nitrogen, giving a PREN of at least 40 against about 35 for 2205, and a higher yield strength. It is chosen for warmer seawater and higher chloride levels.

Ferrite content (often 35–65%), Charpy impact tests at low temperature, ASTM A923 for intermetallic phases and ASTM G48 pitting tests are typical, together with hardness checks.

We make Super Duplex 2507 Flanges from ½" to 24" to ASME B16.5 and from 26" to 60" to ASME B16.47 Series A and B, in Class 150 to 2500, and to EN 1092-1, DIN, BS and JIS standards in PN ratings.

Every order is supplied with EN 10204 3.1 mill test certificates showing heat chemistry and mechanical properties to ASTM A182 F53 (UNS S32750). EN 10204 3.2 certification and inspection by your nominated third-party agency are available on request.
