BSP end tube fittings connect tubing to equipment with British Standard Pipe threads, common on European, Asian and Australian instruments, valves and hydraulic components. They are made with BSPT taper threads (BS 21 / ISO 7-1), which seal on the thread, or BSPP parallel threads (ISO 228-1), which seal with a bonded washer, sealing ring or O-ring.
Raaj Fittings machines BSPT and BSPP end tube fittings at our two plants in India in SS 316, 304, duplex, nickel alloys and carbon steel, in metric and imperial tube sizes.
| BSPT (taper) | BSPP (parallel) | |
|---|---|---|
| Standard | BS 21 / ISO 7-1 (R, Rc) | ISO 228-1 (G) |
| Seal | On the thread, with sealant or tape | Bonded washer, sealing ring or O-ring against a face |
| Typical use | Process and instrument connections | Hydraulic and instrument ports |
BSPP male ends for hydraulic ports are often specified with a sealing method matched to the port, for example a bonded seal or a profile seal; state the requirement on the order.
BSP and NPT threads are not interchangeable: the thread angles (55° and 60°) and most pitches differ. Order the thread used by the equipment you are connecting to. See also NPT end tube fittings.
Every BSP tube fitting is made from PMI-verified material, dimensionally inspected against the ordered standard and marked with material, size, rating and heat number. Orders are supplied with EN 10204 3.1 certificates; EN 10204 3.2 certification and inspection by the buyer's nominated third-party agency are available on request.
BSPT ends have taper threads that seal on the thread with sealant; BSPP ends have parallel threads that seal with a washer, bonded seal or O-ring.
BS 21 and ISO 7-1 for pressure-tight taper (and parallel internal) threads; ISO 228-1 for parallel G threads that seal on a washer or O-ring.
No. The thread angles and pitches differ, so the joint will leak or the threads will be damaged.
Yes, metric and imperial tube ODs are combined with BSPT or BSPP threads, as required.
