Carbon Steel Tube Fittings — Zinc-Plated & Phosphated

Carbon Steel Tube Fittings Manufacturer & Exporter in India

Carbon steel tube fittings are the economical, high-strength choice for hydraulic and pneumatic tubing in machinery, mobile equipment, machine tools and industrial power units, where the fluid is oil or dry air and the fittings are protected from the weather. Steel bodies and nuts give the strength needed for high hydraulic pressures, and a zinc-plated or phosphated finish protects them against rust.

Raaj Fittings machines carbon steel DIN 2353 bite type fittings, single ferrule compression fittings, flare fittings and union elbows at our two plants in India, in metric and imperial tube sizes, for OEMs, hydraulic system builders and distributors in the Middle East, Europe and the Americas.

Zinc-Plated or Phosphated?

  • Zinc plating gives a bright, sacrificial coating that protects the fitting against rust in workshop and indoor environments, and is the usual finish for hydraulic fittings.
  • Phosphating (usually oiled) gives a dark, matt finish with good lubricity for assembly and a sound base for painting, often specified by machinery builders.
  • For outdoor, coastal or wash-down service, or any water-based fluid, SS 316 tube fittings are recommended instead.

Tubing for Steel Tube Fittings

Steel bite type and compression fittings are used with precision seamless cold-drawn steel hydraulic tubing in the normalised condition (for example to EN 10305-1). The tube must be cut square, deburred and fully inserted before the nut is tightened, and the cutting ring or ferrule pre-set as the fitting type requires. Do not mix fittings and rings from different makers on one joint.

Bite Type, Single Ferrule or Flare?

  • DIN 2353 bite type fittings, where a cutting ring bites into the tube, are the European standard for metric hydraulic systems and come in light (L) and heavy (S) series.
  • Single ferrule compression fittings are simple to assemble and widely used for medium-pressure hydraulic and pneumatic lines.
  • Flare fittings (37° JIC style) seal on a flared tube end and are common on American-built equipment.

Applications

  • Hydraulic power units and machine tools
  • Mobile, construction and agricultural equipment
  • Presses, injection moulding and industrial machinery
  • Lubrication systems
  • Pneumatic lines in dry indoor environments

Testing and Documentation

Bar stock is verified on receipt and traceable by heat number. Threads are gauge-checked, bodies, nuts and rings are dimensionally inspected, and plating or phosphate coatings are checked visually. Orders are supplied with EN 10204 3.1 certificates, with EN 10204 3.2 certification and third-party inspection by the buyer's nominated agency on request.

Frequently Asked Questions

Carbon Steel Tube Fittings — FAQs

Carbon steel tube fittings are supplied zinc-plated, for general rust protection, or phosphated, which gives a matt finish with good lubricity and is a good base for painting.

They are designed for oil and dry air in protected environments. For water, outdoor, coastal or wash-down service, stainless steel 316 tube fittings are recommended.

Use precision seamless cold-drawn steel hydraulic tubing in the normalised condition, of the correct OD and wall for the pressure, cut square and deburred.

Yes. DIN 2353 / ISO 8434-1 bite type fittings are made in zinc-plated or phosphated carbon steel and in stainless steel, in metric tube sizes.
