Male and female (M&F) facing flanges are made in matched pairs: one flange has a raised male face, the other a recessed female face of matching diameter. The gasket sits in the female recess and is confined on its outside edge, so it cannot blow out and is held accurately in place, which suits high pressures, hazardous fluids and joints that must be assembled precisely.
Raaj Fittings machines small and large male and female facings to ASME B16.5 dimensions on weld neck, blind and other flanges at our two plants in India, in carbon, alloy and stainless steel, duplex and nickel alloys.
Because the faces must mate, M&F flanges are ordered as pairs, or the facing of each flange is stated clearly (male or female, small or large). They cannot be bolted to raised-face flanges, and a male face mates only with a female face of the same size. Gaskets are cut to fit the female recess.
Every M&F flange is made from PMI-verified material, dimensionally inspected against the ordered standard and marked with material, size, rating and heat number. Orders are supplied with EN 10204 3.1 certificates; EN 10204 3.2 certification and inspection by the buyer's nominated third-party agency are available on request.
The gasket is confined in the female recess, so it cannot blow out and is located accurately, which improves reliability at high pressure and in hazardous service.
Large M&F has a male face close in size to a standard raised face; small M&F has a smaller male face and a narrower gasket.
No. A male face mates only with a matching female recess. Order M&F flanges as pairs.
They are similar confined-gasket facings, but tongue and groove confine the gasket on both its inside and outside diameters, while male and female confine it on the outside only.
