DIN buttweld fittings are the German national standards for steel butt-welding fittings: DIN 2605 elbows, DIN 2615 tees, DIN 2616 reducers and DIN 2617 caps. They have been replaced by EN 10253, but many existing European plants and machines were built to them, and fittings are still ordered to DIN for maintenance and to match original designs.
Raaj Fittings manufactures buttweld fittings to DIN dimensions at our two plants in India in carbon, alloy and stainless steel.
| Standard | Fitting |
|---|---|
| DIN 2605 | Elbows and return bends (Part 1 with reduced pressure factor, Part 2 for full service pressure) |
| DIN 2615 | Tees (equal and reducing) |
| DIN 2616 | Reducers (concentric and eccentric) |
| DIN 2617 | Caps |
When EN 10253 replaced the DIN standards, much of the DIN content was carried over; for example, the DIN 2605 Part 1 / Part 2 concept became the Type A / Type B distinction of EN 10253-2. Materials changed from the old DIN grades (St 35.8, St 37.0, 15Mo3) to European grades such as P235GH and 16Mo3. For replacements, quote the DIN standard and the original material, and we will propose the current equivalent.
DIN fittings are specified by outside diameter and wall thickness in millimetres, for example 88.9 × 3.2, together with the elbow type (DIN 2605 defines several types with different bend radii) and the reduction for reducers and tees.
Every DIN fitting is made from PMI-verified material, dimensionally inspected against the ordered standard and marked with material, size, rating and heat number. Orders are supplied with EN 10204 3.1 certificates; EN 10204 3.2 certification and inspection by the buyer's nominated third-party agency are available on request.
They have been replaced by EN 10253, but DIN fittings are still ordered for maintenance and to match equipment designed to the original standards.
Part 1 elbows have a reduced pressure factor; Part 2 elbows are designed for the full service pressure of the pipe. EN 10253-2 carries the same idea as Type A and Type B.
DIN 2615 covers equal and reducing tees; DIN 2616 covers reducers and DIN 2617 caps.
Yes, DIN-dimension fittings are available in stainless steel such as 1.4541, 1.4571 and 1.4404 equivalents, and in carbon and alloy steel.
